The objectives of this work are to reduce the risk of interface fire in a priority treatment area as identified in the Regional District of Central Kootenay Area K and the Village of Nakusp Community Wildfire Protection Plan (July 2018) and to maintain aesthetic and other property values within municipally-owned lots cared for by the Village of Nakusp.
The strategy is to reduce the likelihood of surface fuel ignition and control the intensity and the spread of fire by eliminating surface and ladder fuels. Specific strategies implemented to achieve fuel reduction include surface and ladder fuel reduction, crown separation and snag removal.
