Fuel mitigation is a continued concern for Nakusp and area, as stated the in Community Wildfire Protection Plan (2017), posted here on our website. Treatment units for Wildfire Risk Reduction in collaboration with the Village of Nakusp, the RDCK, Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development continue to operate in and around the Village of Nakusp. For treatment unit information, please visit www.nakuspcommunityforest.com. At this time, the Wildfire Risk Reduction plans for Unit 6 and Unit 7 in the Box Mountain area have not been granted funding from the BC provincial government. This project is on pause, and may be readdressed in the future.
