Carol holds a BA, Political Science, a BSF (Forestry), MA, Integrated Studies (Global Change) and recently completed a 40 year career as a professional forester. She spent the last 18 years of her working career as an instructor in the School of Environment and Geomatics, Selkirk College, BC.
In 2020, Carol received the Award of Environmental Educator Excellence (post-secondary) from the Columbia Basin Environmental Educators Network, in recognition of her outstanding contributions towards encouraging environmental stewardship and sustainability in the Canadian Columbia Basin, through environmental education.
While employed by the College, Carol represented Selkirk College faculty on the Selkirk College Board of Governors, and in 2024, completed a six-year term as director on the Board of the Columbia Basin Trust.
Carol is currently volunteering with the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club as their director, Trails and Infrastructure, and is a member of the Twin Rivers Community Choir.
A lifetime working and playing in the forests of BC, from Haida Gwaii to the Kootenays, crafted Carol’s deep nature connection. Her work with students highlighted her personal understanding of the far-reaching benefits of spending time in the forest. She continues to share her passion, love, and knowledge of our natural environment through her work as a Forest Therapy Guide. Certified in 2022, by the Global Institute Forest Therapy and Nature Connection, Carol is also an instructor of Forest Therapy.
