Happy National Forest Week!
This year, National Forest Week is from September 22-28th.
NACFOR celebrates National Forest Week with educational school field trips.
On Friday the 20th we took 32 grade 5 and 6 students from Nakusp Elementary School to the Wensley Creek trails for a hike and to pick lichen for the Arrow Lakes Caribou Society.
This year’s theme “Two-Eyed Seeing: Welcoming all Knowledge to Sustain our Forests” is a sentiment that NACFOR strives to achieve.
By working with community user groups, water licensees, First Nations, and other stakeholders, NACFOR ensures we are meeting legislated consultation obligations while also managing for values important to our community.
We are also excited to be working with the Sinixt Confederacy on future projects and facilitating opportunities for student learning on field trips.
